Virginia Floods: More Than 23 dead
The heavy thunderstorms that caused floods in Virginia, state of US has claimed more than 23 lives by now. 
 
 
On Friday, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin announced 14 deaths till afternoon but the number increased to 23 by Friday night. 
 
 
The victims include included a four-year-old boy who was washed away by rapid floodwaters in Jackson county, an  8-year old boy from Ravenswood also gave his life to the violent storm.
 
 
There was also blackout in some parts of the state as power lines fell in the heavy rains. 
Apart from that, about 44 countries have also declared emergency.
 
 
In rescue operation, Tomblin activated 200 National Guard members to assist in eight counties and has authorisation for as many as 300 more to help with the rescue and response efforts.
