Myanmar's new President U Htin Kyaw vowed to implement four goals based on the policies of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD), led by Aung San Suu Kyi.
U Htin Kyaw made pledge in his first address to Parliament after his government cabinet was sworn in earlier in the day, Xinhua reported.
He said that his government will strive for national reconciliation, nationwide peace, emergence of a federal union and raising of living standard of the people.
Kyaw promised to implement the political objectives with perseverance.
He added that his cabinet is responsible for fulfilling the people's expectations to produce a constitution which is in accord with the democratic standard of the country.
Kyaw was sworn in to office on Wednesday.
