Festivity is in the air and as the festival of lights is approaching, the wholesale markets in India saw a boost in Indian products sale. Lights made in India are more in demand as compare to imported items.
Colorful packaging and multihued decorative and lights are attracting buys. As compare to last year the Chinese products are less in demand and Indian manufactured lights are being preferred by shoppers.
Shopkeepers have put up boards saying that everything that you see in our shop is 100 per cent Indian. The costs of India made lights are slightly high but their durability is also being considered.
On the other hand people were also seen complaining about Chinese lights and other decorative products that last only for a week at max.
The sellers feel that the rise in demand for Indian lights might be because of two reasons, one is that Prime Minister Modi urged for Swadeshi (India made).
And second is the the recent online campaign against all Chinese products, which went viral post Uri attacks.
Whatever be the case, the change is definitely welcome to strengthen India-made products such as lights and handicrafts and Indian economy as a whole.
