India becomes the third biggest importer of scotch with the total import of 41million bottles

Scotch whisky: India third biggest importer
Scotch, one of the finest whiskies has seen quite a pace in its business and increase in its demand. With this fast growing demand for scotch, India has emerged as one of the world's fastest growing Scotch whisky import markets of the world with the value growing 28% to 43-million pounds in the first six months of 2016.
 
 
The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) has claimed that since 2013, there has been an increase in the amount of scotch overseas and the credit goes to India. 
 
 
With France importing 90.9 million bottles and United States importing 53.1 million bottles, India becomes the third biggest importer of scotch with the total import of 41million bottles with has increased 41% increase in sales volumes of scotch.
 
 
Noticing this, United Kingdom government says that the full potential of the Indian market would only be delivered through liberalisation of the inflated 150% basic customs duty.
 
 
Scotch is a specific term used for whisky made from malted barley through a legally defined process, originating in Scotland.
