With full charm and grandeur, the Muslim community of Kerala celebrated Eid ul Zuha, popularly known as Bakra-eid on Monday by visiting Eid-Gahs, halls and mosques across the state to offer prayers.

Amidst this, government also declared a public holiday for all offices in Thiruvananthapuram.
With the state having Muslim population more than 88.73 lakh, huge crowds were seen participating prayer centres in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargode ditricts.

Women were also seen in large numbers attending prayers and messages given by the clerics in special enclosures for women.

Apart from that, sacrificial meat was also distributed after the prayers as the day coincided with Haj pilgrimage in Mecca.

Interestingly, the price of mutton touched a record Rs 700 per kg as the festival is celebrated by sacrificing sheep, goat, buffalo or camel.
