Indian athlete Seema Punia crashed out of the women's Discus Throw event at the ongoing Rio Games after finishing ninth in Qualifying Round Group B at the Olympic Stadium.

 
Her best throw of 57.58 metres came in her first attempt. Seema registered a foul in her next attempt before finishing with 56.78m in her third and last attempt.
 
Yaime Perez of Cuba finished on top of the group with a best attempt of 65.38 metres while China's Su Xinyue was second with 65.14m. 
 
Gaermany’s Nadine Muller (63.67m) was third. 
 
In the overall standings, Yaime and Su claimed the top two spots while Sandra Perkovic (64.81m) of Croatia from Group A was third.
 
Australia’s Dani Samuels (64.46m, Cuban Denia Caballero (62.94m) and China's Feng Bin (62.01m) were the others to qualify for the final from Group A.
