Amidst the controversy over wrestler Narsingh Yadav, the Indian Olympics Association (IOA) on Thursday said that it will have no problem with him replacing Praveen Rana for Rio Olympics only if he clears NADA test.
74 kg wrestler Praveen Rana has been nominated by Wrestling Federation of India for freestyle quota in place of Narsingh Rana.
The whole controversy got a spark when Narsingh’s result for dope test came out to be positive for a banned steroid.
After this, the wrestler claimed to be targeted by some rival. He said that it was a part of conspiracy framed against him.
Excluding Narsingh, IOA has passed 211-member contingent, including 124 athletes, for the Rio Games. The Indian contingent will have 87 members as
support staff, including coaches.
Apart from Narsingh, shot-putter Inderjeet has also been rejected by IOA after he was tested positive against a banned substance.
