President's rule to continue in Uttarakhand

The Supreme Court declared on Wednesday that Uttarakhand will continue to have President’s rule, till it pronounces judgment on Centre's plea against state high court's decision.

With this, there will be no floor test in the Assembly on April 29 as directed by the earlier Uttarakhand high court order.

Arguments in the case by Central government and the Congress will restart on May 3 and conclude by May 6.

Earlier in the day, top court posed seven questions related to the March 27 imposition of President's rule in Uttarakhand and sought the Centre's answers to them.

On April 21, the Uttarakhand High Court had set aside President's rule that was imposed in the state by the Centre on March 27.
