World’s first ‘hack proof’ satellite launched
China has launched first of its kind, quantum satellite that is completely ‘hack proof’ satellite that would allow to establish ‘hack proof’ communications between space and earth.
The satellite is ‘hack proof’ as Quantum communications can neither be separated nor duplicated.
The satellite named Quantum Experiments at Space Scale or QUESS is designed to transmit uncrack able keys from space to ground.
QUESS is the result of two years mission and was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in the remote northwestern province of Gansu in the early hours of Tuesday.
Programme being the priority of China’s President Xi Jinping, it aims towards enabling safe communication between Beijing and Urumqi.
Apart from its civil ambitions, the programme has given an opportunity to China to establish itself as a space power.
Amidst this, the US Defense Department has highlighted its increasing space capabilities, saying it was pursuing activities aimed to prevent adversaries from using space-based assets in a crisis, however, China claims its space programme to be for peaceful purposes.
