The Delhi cabinet cleared the Jan Lokpal Bill on November 18. The bill could be tabled in the assembly next week, which is said to be based on the Lokpal bill of Uttarakhand.
One of the most prominent features of the bill is that it brings the office of the Chief Minister under the preview of Lokpal. It also stipulates that investigation by the Lokpal be completed in 6 months and trials be conducted in a time-bound manner.
After the bill was cleared by the cabinet, Manish Sisodia took to twitter to congratulate all who spent days and nights for the bill to become a reality.
The Jan Lokpal Bill that we started our movement for has been passed by the Delhi government’s Cabinet. We hope that we will be able to present it before the assembly very soon,” Kejriwal said on Wednesday.
Jan Lokpal Bill, which has been foremost poll promise of Aam Aadmi Party and had led to resignation of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal within 49 days, after it was unable to get the anti-graft bill passed in the Delhi legislative assembly .
