TMC, CPI(M) members clash in RS

Rajya Sabha witnessed acrimonious scenes over a sting operation in West Bengal on Wednesday, as members from Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) exchanged heated arguments.

Urging the government to order an investigation into the matter, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said, "It is a scam of highest order."

He also accused of "match-fixing" between the government and TMC on the issue.

"If government is not responding, the chair has to protect dignity of the house and order a probe," the Yechury said.

Recently, a sting operation by a news portal allegedly showed some TMC leaders accepting money in return for lobbying for a private company.

In response TMC leaders questioned credibility of the video footage and stressed that foreign money was involved in creating these videos.

Raising the issue, senior party leader Derek O'Brien said, "Let us not judge credibility of the video; let's judge the source of the video."
