Rahul Gandhi takes credit on Govt’s EPF rollback

While welcoming government’s decision to rollback tax on Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) withdrawals, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said it was because of his pressure, that Centre provided relief to salaried class.

Speaking to media persons in the national capital, Gandhi said, “I told government they should not oppress salaried-class. Therefore, rollback of the government is a good decision”.

In Lok Sabha, Jaitley announced relief on issue of tax on EPF withdrawals, which was proposed in General Budget on February 29.

As per announcement by Jaitley in Lower House of Parliament, the common man is liable for no tax on withdrawal from EPF and other retirement funds.

In recent budget, government proposed that withdrawal in excess of 40 percent of amassed corpus will be taxed.
