Incessant rain has brought life in Tamil Nadu to standstill claiming 71 lives and submerging 600 localities which has created an all time crisis like situation in the state.
The IAF has joined rescue operation by airlifting people from the flood affected areas.
The NDRF has also deployed five teams of 200 personnel in the state to intensify rescue operations.
The Met Department has said that showers will continue for three more days but they will be of diminished intensity.
Meanwhile, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Jaylalitha took stock of the situation by visiting flood affected areas of North Chennai , urging people not to panic as things will return to normalcy soon, and assured all help to the affected people.
