The month-long dead lock over the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to end as BJP’s Ram Madhav met PDP president Mehbooba Mufti last evening.
BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday evening at 5 to meet with PDP president Mehbooba Mufti at her Fairview residence at Gupkar. The meeting between the two leaders started at 5.30 pm and lasted for some hours.
Sources said that the BJP has agreed to return two hydro-power projects from NHPC to the state.
“The union government will also consider revoking AFSPA in a first phase from Srinagar and Kathua districts respectively on trial basis,” sources said.
Madhav's visit was kept a closely-guarded secret as state leaders of the BJP and other leaders of the PDP were reportedly unaware about it.
But, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah dropped hints about Madhav's visit by tweeting about arrival of an "unscheduled" flight at the Srinagar Airport.
"Unscheduled flight VTJSG just landed in Srinagar after normal operation hours. Something is cooking with the PDP-BJP government formation," Omar tweeted.
