Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) unit of Kerala has called for a shutdown in the state of Kerala as a group of men has beaten an activist from the party to death on Wednesday in the morning.

The Party urges that the call off should be observed in the state from 6 am to 6 pm on Thursday.

The killing of party’s activist Ramit is a result of killing of a CPM member who was killed on Monday.

There has been a string of political killings in Kerala as BJP-RSS workers clash with CPM workers on a regular basis.

Wednesday’s incident marks seventh such killing this year so far.

Reportedly Rambit’s father was also killed by CPM workers in 2002.
