At least 100 people were arrested in Darjeeling on Wednesday after a clash during a shutdown called by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM).
The GJM called shutdown to protest against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement that Rs 4,000 crore had been allotted Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) in last four-and-a-half years.
As Banerjee opposed the shutdown, the government along with the Darjeeling administration, took steps to ensure that educational, medical institutions and shops were open.
As many as 112 people were arrested after a clash between police and GJM members at Kurseong.
