‘Karnataka creating constitutional crisis’

The Karnataka government was trying to create confrontation between legislature and the judiciary on the Cauvery issue should be taught a lesson, PMK founder S.Ramadoss has said.

In a statement issued in Chennai, he said the state government as if insulting the Supreme Court on Wednesday decided to postpone release of 6,000 cusecs of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu.

Karnataka cabinet has also decided to convene a session of its legislature to discuss the issue of water release as orderd by the apex court.

He said when the case comes up for hearing in the apex court next Tuesday, Karnataka may suggest that its legislature has decided not release water.

If top court condemns that action then it may lead to the situation of confrontation between the judiciary and the legislature.
