Akhilesh sacks two ministers accused of graft

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav sacked Mining Minister Gayatri Prajapati and Panchayati Raj Minister of State Raj Kishore on Monday, said an official in Lucknow.

Prajapati faces serious corruption charges including kickbacks in mining contracts, extortion and land-grabbing while Kishore was accused of land-grabbing.

Move comes after Allahabad High Court (HC) ordering a CBI probe into accusations of illegal mining in the state.

State government had requested the court to withdraw its order of the CBI probe but the court had refused to yield.

Raj Kishore had been on radar of probing agencies for his acts of commission and reports said that the CM did not want his image to be affected by conduct of his ministers.
