Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Wednesday confirmed reports of incursion by Chinese troops in the Chamoli district.
"The good thing is they have not touched an important canal there," Rawat was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Expressing concern, the CM expreesed confidence that the Centre will take cognizance of the issue.
As per the agency report, the ITBP sent a report to the ministry of home affairs on July 19 about the incursion in the state by Chinese forces.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that the government will have to ascertain whether it was an intrusion or not.
In last few years, Chinese troops have made several intrusions into Uttarakhand.
