The Bihar education department has lodged a complaint at the Kotwali police station against VR College (Kiratpur), Vaishali, which produced four intermediate toppers this year. The students barely know about their respective study subjects.
Secondary education secretary Rajiv Ranjan Prasad lodged the FIR at late evening on Monday, hours after chief minister Nitish Kumar said a criminal investigation into possible wrongdoings in the board exam would be conducted.
Among those named in the complaint are the four toppers — Ruby Ray, Saurav Shresth, Shalini Ray and Saurav Kumar — officials of the Bihar State Education Board (BSEB), centre superintendents and the evaluation centre where the copies were evaluated.
Director General of police PK Thakur said a special investigation team headed by inspector Anand Kumar will be constituted to look into the matter. He will be assisted by the SIT, comprising officials of the criminal investigation department as well as Vaishali police, he added.
The chief minister ordered the dissolution of the inquiry committees constituted by the department of education and the BSEB on Sunday, a day before ordering a criminal investigation into the intermediate results fiasco, which has caused a lot of embarrassment to the Bihar government.
Former topper Saurabh Shrestha said he'll commit suicide - for being cross-examined.
