Will revoke President’s rule in Uttarakhand: Centre tell SC

Harish Rawat-led Congress government is all set to resume power in Uttarakhand as Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed Centre to revoke President’s Rule in view of Harish Rawat’s success in proving the majority in the floor test.

It accepted Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi’s submission that Centre would revoke the President’s Rule on Wednesday to enable Rawat resume charge as the Chief Minister of the state.

Apex court also declared the result of the floor test, in which Rawat secured 33 votes in the floor test that was conducted on Tuesday under the supervision observers appointed by it.

Floor test to prove the Congress Government’s majority was held after a political tussle that lasted for almost a month with Centre imposing President’s Rule on March 27 after nine Congress MLAs voted with the BJP in Assembly on budget-related Appropriation Bill on March 18.
