Even though Cardinal Christoph Schonborn of Vienna confirmed the crucification of Indian Catholic priest, Father Thomas Uzhunnali, by Islamic State on Good Friday in Yemen, where it was held hostage by terror group,Centre is yet to of his whereabouts.
Fr Uzhunnali was taken hostage from Aden during an attack by IS on March 4.
IS terrorists killed 16 people, including four nuns, in Aden, Yemen, during an attack on March 4. The old-age home was run by Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa.
The execution of Father Uzhunnali by the same method the Romans used to kill Jesuswas confirmed at the Easter Vigil Mass by Cardinal Schonborn.
Reports in media said Uzhunnali was tortured before he was crucified, however MEA sources said the Centre has been trying its best to get information, but had so far not succeeded.
MEA has also got in touch with the Vatican, which said it remains equally in the dark about Uzhunnali's whereabouts.
A religious group group based in South Africa, Franciscan Sisters of Siessen, had claimed last week in a Facebook post that they were informed of priest being tortured and IS planned his crucifixion on Good Friday. Post has now been deleted.
