‘ASEAN crucial to India's Act East Policy’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said "export of terror" is a common threat to the region, in an obvious reference to Pakistan.

"Export of terror, growing radicalisation and spread of extreme violence are common security threats to our societies," Modi said while addressing the 14th India-Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit on Vientiane (Laos).

The PM said that Asean was crucial to India's Act East Policy while describing the relations with south-east Asia as a "source of harmony".

Earlier in the day, Modi held a bilateral meeting with host Laos Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith.
