Modi Govt’s pet policy set for a makeover

The NDA Government’s pet ‘Make in India’ policy is set for a makeover.

It was a slogan coined by PM Narendra Modi during his first Independence Day speech in 2014 after he took over.

As per Ramesh Abhishek, the DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) Secretary, a draft revised proposal for Make in India is ready and has to now be finalised.

Detailed discussions were done with ministries and industry associations like FICCI, CII  and also other industries. Government have now come out with a draft revised proposal for every department and ministry, which has to be finalised now, Abhishek was quoted as saying to CNBC TV-18.

He added that plans for ‘Make in India’ were made in December 2014 and after that department has been reviewing this plan with all the ministries, which has been reviewed at the higher levels.
