A bench of Justice Shantanu Khemkar and Justice M S Karnik were informed by Railways's advocate Suresh Kumar; by August 10 the policy will be announced.
They also said that until the policy is formed till then all applications for putting up road-facing hoardings on the Mumbai suburban routes are kept on hold.
The BMC moved the court, in pending public interest litigation, pointing out that despite its 2008 policy for hoardings and the HC on August 31, 2012 order that all existing hoardings should apply for permission.
The railways have not sought its permission. In February, the court was told that there are 225 illegal hoardings on Central Railway and 240 on Western Railway. The HC also asked that in that case, why BMC had not removed the hoardings put up by the Railways.
