In order to develop the technologies related to cyber security and robotics for the defence forses, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has decided to collaborate with Jadavpur University so that a Rs 100 crore research centre can be made.
The centre that is expected to be ready in two years of time will be focusing on pursuing collaborative advanced research, starting with secure systems and cognitive technologies, directed energy, unmanned and robotics technologies.
The focus will also be on development of other futuristic technologies.
The centre will act as a self-accounting unit of the DRDO.
DRDO head S Christopher said that having a centre at Jadavpur University will help their personnel to communicate easily and get the design faster. Also, they have been working with the university for a long time.
Apart from this, DRDO also has institutes in Kolkata.
