Union Minister Nitin Gadkari credited former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for using 'Acche Din' quote first. “BJP was just saddled with the phrase "Acche Din", like a bone stuck in the throat,” said the minister.
"It is Modi-ji's who told us that former PM, Dr Singh used way before us and now it is stuck this much that whenever any issue arise, everyone shouts - when will there be "Acche Din," Gadkari said.
He said, "Our country is such an ocean of dissatisfied souls that Acche Din can never come. However media should not misinterpret me, those who have cycles want scooters, and those who have scooters want cars. Apparently the wealthy are dissatisfied."
“Dr Singh promised Acche Din in the future in response to questions from NRIs. Modi-ji said it somewhere and people still asks us," said Gadkari. This is to mention that the phrase was a top keyword in BJP's campaign in 2014 Lok Sabha election.
The promise of Acche Din was actually became a big hit in 2014 and deemed mass support for BJP and ever since been mocked by opposition parties and BJP critics to target the government on what they call unfulfilled promises.
