Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday in New Delhi.
He briefed Modi on the status of a number of bilateral cooperation initiatives, particularly in the areas of skill development and smart cities, an official release said.
Modi recalled his visit to Singapore late last year, during which bilateral ties were upgraded to a "strategic partnership".
The PM said he was keenly looking forward to his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong's visit to India in the near future.
He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Singapore on the demise of former President S.R. Nathan.
Singapore has lost one of its great sons, said Modi.
