Union water resources minister Uma Bharati assured that the task of cleaning Ganga will be complete in time. She further said that she’ll complete this task the same way she achieved the targets assigned to her during Ayodhya and Tiranga movements in past decades.
When asked how she helped in those movements, she denied elaborating the role she played in Ayodhya and Tiranga movement and simply mentioned, "Everybody knows what I had done during those movements."
Regarding free flow of Ganga's own stream she said that cleaning Ganga would be possible by October 2018, but seven years time would be needed to ensure uninterrupted flow in the river. Uma also launched various projects in Varanasi under Namami Gange project, on Saturday.
Earlier, while addressing the launching ceremony she said that any proposal of constructing new dams on any river of country would be permitted as per the conditions of the agreement signed by late Pt Madan Mohan Malviya and British government between 1912 and 1916.
She made it clear that no laboratory would test water of Ganga after completion of Namami Gange project but river's own eco system would certify that the water has become clean and its exclusive properties are revived between Gangotri and Ganga Sagar.
