India celebrates her 70th Independent History

August 15, 2016, marks 70 years of Indian independence. As we as a country go through a rather trying phase — politically, economically and socially, days such as this should come as a reminder of what our ancestors fought for, and gave up so that we could live in a free country.

As India celebrates its 70th year of independence, we remember the sacrifice of those immortal souls who fought for our freedom. For us the words of first Independence Day speech from August 15, 1947, are still imprinted in the mind.

“Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now that time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of today’s midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”

Google doodle also pays homage to Jawaharlal Nehru’s historic speech in the Parliament House before the Indian Constituent Assembly. After almost a century of the Indian independence movement, this speech was the climax of hopes, aspirations, dreams, blood, sweat and countless lives.

It is a day when people forget and forgive everything and the whole nation comes together to celebrate the happiness together. Since it is the digital age, people shared patriotic SMSes, WhatsApp and other social media messages and greet each other.

Twitteraties shared their emotions with messages like, “It makes my heart beat with pride, to see the colors of Independence Day spreading happiness and great joys all around. May the glory of Independence Day Be with us forever.”

Indians posted their pictures on face book and instagram saying, “Remember the sacrifice our Indian freedom fighters who shaped this country. Rejoice and celebrate the day with pride. Independence Day greetings to you and your family!”

“Thousands laid down their lives for us to celebrate this day. On this 70th year of independence, let’s take a pledge that we will never forget their sacrifices. Happy Independence Day 2016,” is the status of most of the Indians.

The whole country is painted in the colors of Orange, White and Green with the hint of Blue!
