Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday reviewed the security situation in the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.
On the eve of Independence Day, top brass of the security establishment briefed him on the prevailing situation in the country and the steps taken for the national security.
Those who attended the meeting include National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, chiefs of intelligence agencies besides others.
Home Minister especially reviewed the security scenario in Kashmir Valley, which has been witnessing unrest after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen Burhan Wani. There were intelligence inputs earlier that militants might also try to attack security forces in the run up to the Independence Day.
Situation in the national capital was also reviewed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the country on Monday from the ramparts of the Red Fort, where a galaxy of leaders, top civil, defence, police officials, school children and civilians will be present.
Ahead of Independence Day celebrations, police also raid Jamia Milia Islamia hostels. Students alleged that Special Cell of the Delhi police and some officials in the civil dress barged into the hostel campus of the University and started shooting videos.
