Ministry of External Affairs, Minister Sushma Swaraj has confirmed that 11 Indians who were in the Prisons of Nigeria for two years have been released.
They were the employees of Merchant Navy firm and were arrested for violating laws of international waters after their ship got stranded in Nigerian waters in 2014.
Sushma Swaraj confirmed the news by appreciating the efforts of Indian High Commissioner in Nigeria, B N Reddy.
Apart from these, the government is also making efforts to release two abducted from Gboko, a town in Nigeria.
The two are identified as Anish Sharma from Karnataka and another is Mangipudi Sai Srinivas from Andhra Pradesh.
These two men were travelling to Dangote Cement Plant in a car from their residence when they were abducted by armed men at traffic signal.
The minister has also assured the wife of Anish Sharma that the government will release from the kidnappers.
