You must have come across the caution written on Tobacco packets. All of them lead to same conclusion that tobacco causes cancer. The addicts rarely consider the warnings but now there is a severe reason to take this warning seriously.
Scientists have found that chewable tobacco products such as tobacco leaves, khaini, pan masala, zarda, gutka etc contain several species of bacteria that shoot up the risk of cancer, lung infections, diarrhoea and vomiting.
According to the study conducted by researchers of National Centre for Toxicological Research, US, these tobacco products contain bacillus licheniformis and bacillus pumilus bacteria that lead to inflammation of lungs and many other infections.
The researchers informed that these bacteria produce a mild toxin which, in large quantities could cause illness.
It happens because people hold these products in their mouth for long. It then comes in close contact with mucus membranes for extended periods of time that provides an opportunity for the user to be exposed to bacteria present in the product.
Moreover, it causes gum diseases which clear the way for these bacteria to enter the bloodstream, paving a way to the heart.
