A new mosquito disease, Japanese encephalitis has entered India through Manipur and has claimed about two lives in the state while 25 people have been hospitalized.
Japanese encephalitis is a Japanese mosquito disease that leads to inflammation of brain.
Watching the outbreak of disease in neighbor Manipur, the government of Mizoram has prepared the state and has taken preventive measures against it.
As a part of arrangements, Aizwal Civil Hospital has been given the designation of sentinel site hospital and trained health workers have been deployed to fight the disease.
Also, as preventive measures, anti-larval spray is being done in and around residential houses along with animal rearing areas.
Fortunately, there has been no report of any Japanese encephalitis case in Mizoram so far.
