Experts call for embracing alternative energy

Several activists and experts gathered at Bodh Gaya urged central and state governments to adopt ecologically sustainable and socio-economically equitable transitions for power sector in India.

They also suggested that nuclear and coal projects could have opposing impact and prove to be a costly option for the people.

Coal, nuclear and large hydro based centralised systems have failed to provide equitable and sustainable energy solutions.

Other options like decentralised renewable energy, have huge potential to provide reliable energy choices, said one participant.
