NMC to levy ‘Clean Environment Charges’
Through ‘clean environment charges’ to be levied on firecrackers retailers and wholesalers, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is likely to make Rs 40 lakh as revenue.

The civic body has decided to levy clean environment charges of Rs 3000 per retailer and wholesaler as directed by National Green Tribunal.

There are a total of 400 firecracker retailers that include 155 stalls auctioned by NMC.

Out of 40 lakhs, 12 lakhs are expected to come through clean environment charges while remaining 28 lakhs will come through auction of firecracker stalls.

The stalls are allotted to sellers for eight days with a mandate of keeping 200 liters of water, 5 kg anti bump cylinder and a bucket of sand available at the stalls to view the safety.

Also, anti-smoking stickers and boards are made mandatory for the stalls.
