Amma Environment Park to be set up in Chennai

A day after announcing Amma parks and Amma gyms, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa further announced in the assembly that soon there would an Amma Environment that would be set up at Tondiarpet in Chennai at a cost of Rs 2 crore.

 

"An environment park called Amma Environment Park will be established at Tondiarpet at a cost of Rs 2 crore to create environment awareness among children, school students, youth and others," she said in assembly.

 

This park will alos have play equipment and placards with environmental awareness messages. The Parithipattu lake in Avadi municipal limits will be refurbished at a cost of Rs 28.16 crore. 

 

"Encroachments will be removed, inlets will be cleared and the lake will be desilted so that it can attract birds," said Jayalalithaa.

 

In Erode district, a lake close to the Vellodu bird sanctuary will be desilted, deepened and footpaths will be laid along the lake bunds at a cost of Rs 4.90 crore. More than 24,427 birds visit the sanctuary every year.

 

Similarly, the Muthampalayam lake in Erode district would be refurbished at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore, she said.
