The government has launched a programme to promote the use of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) in two wheelers. The programme also focuses on decreasing pollution.
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the programme on Thursady.
A word about the programme, the programme involves 50 CNG retrofitted two wheelers out of which, 10 GNG two wheelers were flagged off by the ministers at IGL filling station at CGO complex.
The government has also made a plan to monitor the pilot phase and further introduce CNG in two wheelers across the country.
The main reason behind this step is that the CO emissions of CNG are 20 percent lesser than the petrol emissions.
According to the ministers, the the government is pro-actively striving to promote clean fuel in the country and also is fully committed to control pollution in the country.
Interestingly, the Iranian kits have been used for retrofitment and can be seen as the sign of growth of Indo-Iran co-operation.
