As Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country see great influx of children from well to do families, government tries to enroll more of poor children to Kendriya Vidalayas (KVs).
A prime reason behind the increasing crowd in KVs is due to limited seats in private schools as well as improved education, standard infrastructure and facilities in KVs.
So as to tackle the situation, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) is planning to limit the seats for the privileged section and the creamy layers.
As an important measure, it is also being planned that during admission process parents need to bring their income certificates. In case income exceeds limit, student would not be given admission.
Also, the Ministry had asked the Kendriya Vidyalayas Sangathan to maintain systematic database of admission in order to bring transparency in the admission process.
Under the parliamentarian quota, each MP (Member of Parliament) has the privilege to refer 10 students in every academic year.
The HRD Ministry raised a proposal to devote four seats from the existing 10 seats specified for the MPs to the economically weaker section.
