India lacks quality of education: President
President Pranab Mukherjee has said that despite of having institutions like IITs and NITs, India lacks quality of education.

Praising IITs and NITs, he said that as far as the campus placement is concerned, IITs and NITs are excellent but there are around 732 universities and 36000 degree colleges in the country.

Despite that, more than 60000 students go to foreign universities every year and India needs to reverse the flow, President said adding to that.

In an event, he said that is infrastructure but still there is a "big deficiency" in terms of quality of education.

In addition to that, he said that unless there is quality of education, India cannot build Knowledge society unless that happens, India cannot occupy rightful place in the comity of nations.

Laying emphasis on primary and secondary education, he said that primary and secondary education lays the foundation of higher education. He thanked teachers for making big contribution in terms of social responsibility for the country.
