Though, Institute of Science (IISc) Banglore still remains to be the top most university of the country but in QS World University Rankings 2016-17, its ranking has dropped to 152.
Last year, the university ranked 147 and this is how marked its place in World’s top 150 universities.
The university was set up by combining the efforts of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Government of India and the Maharaja of Mysore in 1909.
Other technical universities of India that mark their places in top 400 universities are IIT Delhi at 185, IIT Bombay at 219, IIT Madras at 249, IIT Kanpur at 302 and IIT Kharagpur at 313 and IIT Roorkee at 399.
According to the global rankings, the top ten universities are Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, California Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, University College of London, ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), Imperial College, London and University of Chicago.
