The State government of Maharashtra has checked 5 lakh school bags in over 28000 schools of state in response of the press conference held by two students of seventh grade related to heavy weights of school bags. The inspection was done by 5,200 education officials.
Out of these 5 lakh bags, around 4.76 lakh bags were found to be non-violating the permissible weight limit. It comes out to be 90.1 percent.
Talking about individual districts, the districts of Nandurbar, Hingoli, Ratnagiri and Washim, were given the clean chit.
In Pune, 89.37 percent of school bags were found to be within the weight limit.
Interestingly, in the district of Chandrapur where students complained about excess weight, the 93 percent of bags were founds to be within the weight limit.
