IIT Roorkee creating a fresh tumult has expelled 8 students for not scoring well which has created huge disturbances in the campus.
Interestingly, few days ago as well, it expelled 10 students belonging to reserved categories. Out of them, 5 are SCs, 1 is OBC, and 3 others people are physically disabled.
IIT Roorkee has made it mandatory for the students to acquire a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 5 or more.
As a consequence, total of 18 students have approached Ministry of Human resource Development (MHRD) saying that they are poor, disadvantaged and their future now seems dark.
This is not it and some of them have marked a copy to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
The complaints have been acknowledged by PMO and have been forwarded to IIT Roorkee.
One student in his letter said that students from the reserved categories join the institute at relatively lower cut-offs. Students who enter the college with such scores in the entrance exams are forced to compete with those from the general category that have higher marks. He also calls it a 'flaw'.
