Javadekar to inaugurate IIT Jammu on August 6

Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar is going to inaugurate new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Jammu on Saturday or August 6.

 
 
The campus has been set on the land measuring 159 hectare at village Jagti, Tehsil Nagrota at Jammu. 
 
 
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Department of Higher Education, Jammu & Kashmir and the Department of Higher Education in the HRD Ministry on May 1, 2016 cleared the way of setting up of IIT campus in the state. 
 
 
The construction of campus over 25 acres is about to start soon.
 
 
Nevertheless, a total of 90 students have been enrolled at IIT Jammu out of which 30 each are in computer science and engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering for the academic session.
