Even after the release of fifth cut off, there are several colleges which are left with vacant seats and to fill those vacant seats, thousands of students flooded the colleges with application forms.

For 50 seats, Hansraj College received 84,000 applications. By Ramjas College, to fill up 100 seats, 57000 applications were received. Similarly, to fill up mere 25 seats, 37000 applications were received by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Lady Shri Ram College received 1800 applications for just 6 seats.

Another reputed college, Kirori Mal College, received 40000 applications for mere 300 seats.

Apart from that, Hindu College received 5000 applications to fill up only 6 seats in B.Com (Hons).

Huge number of applications for such meager amount of seats poses to be problem for the admission committees of colleges. So to tackle the problem, colleges are planning to prepare a merit list.
