Mumbai University introduces a course in puppetry

As ‘Skill India’ is touching the sky heights, there are changes being made to develop skills in youth of our country to meet the eligibilities of the profession they choose.

 

There are several professional, technical and vocational courses available in various universities across the country. But university of Mumbai has taken it to another level as it is has introduced a certificate course in ‘Puppetry’.

 

Some of the highlights of the course are:-

 

1. The course will be a four month long academic session highlighting on various aspects that cater to this form of art.

 

2. As beginners, puppetry will remain a certificate course in the university and not a degree course

 

3. This will be the first ever formal course in this art form in the country

 

4. The four-month long course is set to begin in the month of August this year

 

5. The course will be headed by famous puppeteer, Meena Naik

 

6. The course will also expect various experts in the art to take classes

 

The course is also expected to cover:-

 

1. History of puppetry

 

2. Traditional puppetry

 

3. Modern Puppetry

 

4. Vocational Training

 

5. Puppet doll making

 

6. Puppeteer as an art of communication

 

Apart from a course it can also be seen as strife to preserve the ‘Traditional Indian Arts’.
