‘Global trade growth slows in 2016’

 Global trade growth figures for 2016 have dropped short of estimates, the World Trade Organization (WTO) has said.

 
Trade across the globe rose by 1.7 per cent so far in 2016, much less than the 2.8 per cent forecast last April.
 
Growth outlook for 2017 has been revised and was now projected at between 1.8 and 3.1 per cent, down from 3.6 per cent projected five months ago.
 
Growth figures this year have been the lowest since 2009
