I-T dept raids small businesses, roadside eateries

The income tax department is working hard to make the income declaration scheme (IDS) a success.

With September 30 deadline fast approaching, small businesses and roadside eateries are the latest to feel the heat.

As per ‘The Economic Times’ report, in Mumbai alone, at least 50 — including a famous vada pav centre in Thane, a dosa centre in Ghatkopar, a sandwich centre in Andheri and a jalebiwallah were raided and  owners were asked to declare their black money under IDS.

About 100 raids or surveys were conducted in Ahmedabad and eateries and shops in New Delhi and Kolkata.

Raids are based upon information collected by tax department in last six months.
