Office bearers of Indian Revenue Services (Customs & Central Excise) Association met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday evening.

Jaitly gave a very patient hearing to the Association and went through the whole representation carefully and appreciated IRS ( C&CE) SERVICE for smooth and successful  historical developments in Indirect Tax Administration and transition from time to time  in the Country, informed Shrawan kumar Bansal, General Secretary of IRS ( C&CE) SERVICE.

He agreed that the specialist IRS officers are backbone of Indian Economy. He assured that the interest of the service would be fully safeguarded and would not be allowed to loose in any manner in any front. He assured that the officers of the department as well as the Board would be key to GST and is required to head.

He assured that Composition of the GST council secretariat would be looked into and encase ring of the posts would be studied. We have demanded both the Secy as well as AS GST being highly technical. He has assured that we are the front of the Ministry and our interest would not be compromised and no post would be reduced under any circumstance, rather the role would increase.

The Association thanked him immensely for his positive outlook. Association informed Hon'ble FM about the preparedness and readiness of the Service for smooth and successful roll out of GST from 1st April.

Association also informed that all the States VAT officers are being trained by IRS officers all over the country, laws and procedures are being framed and new Service structure being drafted. All the officers are working on war footing with full dedication to make roll out of GST a grand success in India.

The implementation of GST has witnessed rough weather in several countries and several Governments have lost on this count.

The Greek economic crisis is also resultant of faulty implementation of GST by Generalists.

However, the Association assured FM that officers of this Service are committed and determined for successful rollout of GST in the country and will set an example before the World.
