Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa dedicated the first 1,000 MW unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) on Wednesday.
The event took place via video conferencing with Modi in New Delhi, Putin in Moscow and Jayalalithaa in Chennai.
KNPP is located in Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu, around 650 km from the Tamil Nadu Capital.
Speaking at the event the PM said that in dedicating Kudankulam nuclear power plant historic tie between India and Russia has reached next level.
He added that it was also a success of relentless work put by Indian and Russian engineers and they should be saluted for their efforts.
